The future of VC in crypto
I have been investing in crypto since the beginning and I see the world of investing is changing dramatically. I wanted to write a few words to express what I think.
As money becomes less valuable for projects and — contributions ( software, community management , product ) become more valuable, we start to see new mechanisms to get equity in projects.
where we started :
gated world of vcs that does private deals, promising value add but serve as a stamp of quality mainly. — this world is becoming so competitive as more and more people feel confident to invest in crypto.
where we are going :
few models :
- investment in kind :
projects will forever need help with development, product , design, community etc — — so one version of the next gen of investors will be the one that offer investment in kind — tech for tokens.
2. community that invests together :
(3,3 )We see this model with Olympus dao that get free tokens from diff projects in exchange for forking the protocol but really in exchange for the participation of this amazing community in other projects — basically similar to yfi .
3. network of investors and sharing of the carry :
I imagine it as a community of contributors that spend their full time in different ecosystems and contribute to coordinating the dao. Then they get an allocation of x$ for projects they think are fine for 20% of the upside .
as part of own.fund we are trying to incorporate 1 and 3 and a big supporter of Olympus dao as the future of venture.
