Bringing together the thoughts of ray Dalio and of Yuval Noah Harari on the current world health crisis and its economic post results.

Like everyone, I’m reading the news and especially listening to things that governments are doing and what ray dalio and yuval noach harari are writing about this government’s actions .

Yuval focusing on the global cooperation between countries and the fact countries are making anti-democratic rules using the excuse of keeping the public health in order and ray Dalio speaking about the failure of the current capitalistic system that don't work for most people.

Yuval says we are facing two big dilemmas :

  1. The tradeoff between totalitarian surveillance and citizen empowerment as a way to solve our health crisis.
  2. The tradeoff between nationalism vs world cooperation between countries.

For the first he mentions the gathering of health data by governments that is taking place right now and rules that enable that

For the second he speaks about the isolation and lack of transparency that countries choose instead of sharing information and insights.

The solutions Yuval propose are :

  1. A global cooperation body that will coordinate medical personal, coordination of supply chains and economic dynamics and travel restrictions.
  2. Open standards and systems for collecting, analyzing and using medical data in a way that keeps that choice and trust in the hands of the citizens and will enable the citizen to understand the logic of things and enable him to choose what people do with his data.

My observations regarding trends to follow :

  1. Surveillance tools :
  • Protective and attack cyber companies, new type of cyber companies (civilians against the state or bio cyber )
  1. Encrypted communication to protect against Surveillance (e.g this and this lists )
  2. Tools to hide wealth from developed countries like the US .
  3. Tools to preserve wealth from inflation .
  4. Tools for regular people to make money
  • crypto games
  • Crypto art and virtual worlds
  • pos systems

Ray Dalio thoughts :

After reading ray recent posts and books he keeps speaking of the fact that capitalism is not working for most people, that populism will rise and that we should find ways to redistribute the cake. he also discuss solutions like a global collaboration body

In his first post — why and how capitalism need to be reformed he writes :

  • There has been little or no real income growth for most people for decades-
  • Only rich people get better education and healthcare
  • The pursuit of profit and greater efficiencies has led to the invention of new technologies that replace people, which has made companies run more efficiently, rewarded those who invented these technologies, and hurt those who were replaced by them.
  • It also lead companies to produce abroad and not in the us .
  • Central banks’ printing of money and buying of financial assets (which were necessary to deal with the 2008 debt crisis and to stimulate economic growth) drove up the prices of financial assets, which helped make people who own financial assets richer relative to those who don’t own them.
  • there is a glut of investment money chasing investments at the same time as there is an extreme shortage of money among most people.

The solutions he purpose are :

  • should create a bipartisan commission to bring together skilled people from different communities to come up with a plan to reengineer the system to simultaneously divide and increase the economic pie better. By:
  • Create private-public partnerships (including governments, philanthropists, and companies) that would jointly vet and invest in double bottom line projects that would be judged on the basis of their social and economic performance results relative to clear metrics.
  • Tax for bad behavior — Raise money in ways that both improve conditions and improve the economy’s productivity by taking into consideration the all-in costs for the society (e.g., I’d tax pollution and various causes of bad health that have sizable economic costs for the society).

summarising up: capitalism, as we know it is not sustainable for most people and the governments, are acting in ways that will change the way we know our life.

in my opinion, the biggest way to react to this is by creating tools for sovereignty and tools to help the majority of people make a living.

a field that can be the solution is the open metaverse and platform that help turn content into digital assets.
